The 2016 NFL Draft had the highest percentage of high school multiple sport athletes drafted since 2013. According to Tracking Football research, 224 out of the 253 (88.5%) draftees had also participated in a sport other than football during their high school career.

Track & field was once again the most participated sport by NFL draft picks. Tracking Football’s Player Athletic Index score is an athletic analytic that factors height, weight, position, and track & field data to evaluate the raw athleticism of football players from 0.0 – 5.0. The 2016 draft class average PAI was 3.6 / 5.0, up from 3.4 / 5.0 in 2015.
